LAHORE: The Punjab government is working on a project to evolve a computerised arms licence information management system in the province to purge society of illegal weapons. Arms licences in booklet form will be replaced with computer chip cards and for the purpose initial consultations have been started between the Punjab government and NADRA to change the existing system of issuing of licences, Punjab Home Department sources told APP on Sunday. An error-free system will be introduced to control illegal weapons and identify bogus licences. Sources said the computerised chip card of every licence would be linked with arms manufacturers, sellers and repairers through a database.
