QUETTA: Gunmen in Quetta shot dead two Shia Muslims who had emigrated from neighbouring Afghanistan almost a decade ago to escape violence there, police said Sunday.

Two men opened fire Saturday night on the family, from Afghanistan's Hazara community, who were at a bus station in Quetta preparing to travel to Karachi.

"A man of about 65 years of age and his 18-year-old grandson were killed in the firing at the bus terminal at Sariyab road," Imran Qureshi, a senior police official, told AFP.

Two other men and two women family members managed to run away and take shelter. The gunmen escaped on a motorbike.

Qureshi said the family had migrated from Afghanistan almost a decade ago to escape war in their homeland.

Et you never post my comments. Why?! Pakistan is not a Sunni state, Pakistan is a state for Muslims whether shia, sunni deobandis, berelvi, sufi and so on...so when people say hazaras or Shias should go to Iran. No they own Pakistan just as much as we do. And this is pure Shia genocide, I feel sorry for the hazaras. And I'm a practising Sunni saying this.... Were hushed on this but they will also target you if you fall in to everything except one of the sects. So pray to Allah for harmony and peace, rather than violence and murder...may Allah curse people like this who kill innocents for no reason whether it's a Muslim or a non Muslim , do we not care that Allah has created us all and only He can take our life away??? When will Pakistanis mentality change!
