The missile was test-fired for its full 700-km range from Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast on Friday. It zeroed in on to a pre-designated target in the Bay of Bengal with accuracy.
Two down-range ships recorded the terminal event as the missile splashed down into the sea, while the entire trajectory was tracked and monitored by radars, the electro-optical network and telemetry stations along the east coast.
The single-stage, solid-fuelled missile, which has already been inducted into service, is capable of carrying a payload weighing 1,000 kg up to a distance of 700 km.
It was not immediately clear whether the test was part of the advance list that is exchanged with Pakistan intimating of test launches.

@Kayyum:
Don't worry about Pakistan's stockpile home boy. The Indian missiles are exact replicas of the soviet duds from 60s and 70s. This Agni would fall off from the sky without even covering a 100 kms and would land somewhere inside the Indian territory.
@Dude: Is that why India seems so scared of Pakistan that it cannot settle any differences ?
@Kayyum: How old are you ? 5 ? Didn't your mummy teach you it's bad manners to interrupt when adults are talking ?
Ideology of balance of power has destroyed Pakistan and it is still working. Good news for India.
Thank you Russia :D
@Fahd Sheikh: hopes and daydreams are the only thing left for pakistan. you proved it
@wijdan: The balance of Power in Asia is between north and south of Himalayas. In south its India and in north its China. There is no other military power in Asia. Nukes are like suicide bombers, it will kill the striker first before the target. The future weapon is economy and not these missiles. Who will hold the breath longer will choke the others.
we'll see that later ...! no worries
@wijdan: otherwise pakistan would have been stable and peaceful???
@ wijdan. "Balance of power" "disrupt peace and stability in South Asia", "compelled other states to develop nuke"? Really who exactly apart from you developed nukes in South Asia or increased its army vis via india? Surprise suprise* no one! Nobody feels threatened or is paranoid from india unlike your country. Btw balance of power? You lost the "power" and "balance" both when india reached trillion dollar economy, while your still stuck with getting aids from USA.
@wijdan: A Pakistani talking about peace! very funny world.
@wijdan: we are 125crore people you are only 17crore....maintain balance do it more
@Kayyum: Don't be so overconfident; overconfidence has been the reason behind the downfall of many nations. Don't underestimate the firepower and resilience of Pakistan and its armed forces. We are very much used to punching above our weight, the Indian armed forces may be bigger but we Pakistani punch harder and the bigger you are the harder you fall.
@wijdan: test some nasr missile and solve your problem or do whatever you want. Why should India care about balancing with pakis when we have to take care of China? @Kayyum: 8-9 minutes* not seconds.
It's a ballistic missile. Will strike the target of 700kms in 8-9 seconds. By the time pakistan's half missiles start their launches, this missile will take care of Pakistan's nuclear stock piles.
Indian missile tests have disturbed the balance of power as well as peace and stability in South Asia. Indian nuclear expansionist mode has been instrumental in compelling other states to develop their nuke capability in order to maintain balance of power.
Let the war of words begin.
