Former additional DG FIA Riaz Sheikh has been released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
According to sources, Riaz Sheikh was released on the order of the Punjab government to implement the remission in prisoners’ terms announced by President Zardari.
Earlier, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had alleged that the exercise has been done to benefit Riaz Shaikh.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had restored the punishment of Riaz Sheikh after reopening Nab cases against him. Some 667 prisoners will benefit from commutation orders.
