Street Child World Cup: Sindh govt announces Rs 200,000 for each player

Lawmakers from all parties paid tribute to the returning Street Child World Cup (SCWC) players on Tuesday at the Sindh Assembly.

The young footballers came home from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after securing a bronze model at the tournament.

Upon their arrival in Karachi, the team paid a visit to the Sindh Assembly where many of the MPAs gave them a standing ovation.


To show their support for the team, the Sindh government announced that each player would be rewarded with Rs 200,000 and Education Minister Nisar Khoro announced that each player shall receive free education till college.

In addition, Information Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Memon said that a football stadium will especially be constructed for the players.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Khurram Sher Zaman gave Rs 10,000 to each player, while Minister for Youth Affairs Mumtaz Ali Jakhrani announced a total of Rs 500,000 to be rewarded to the entire team.
