KARACHI: Police official Iqbal Mehmood was appointed as the new Inspector General of the Sindh Police on Monday, Express News reported.
Earlier, there was much speculation as to who would fill the position since it had been vacant for the past few months.
The official notification of Mehmood’s appointment will be issued shortly after which he will formally assume the role of IG Sindh.
Previously, he was appointed to be the acting IG Sindh in February, after the retirement of the previous Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch.
Mehmood is one of the senior most officials in the Sindh police and has served at a number of posts including as the Additional Inspector General of Karachi twice and as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at different places.

Good appointment. Karachi police is the only police in the country which is taking on the criminals and terrorists rather than giving them a free hand.
Sanity prevails finally. PMLN realized that it can't have it's stooge at every post.
