KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court adjourned on Saturday the hearing of the taxi driver murder case till April 12, due to the absence of the investigation officer. Lance Naik Ghulam Rasool of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, was booked for allegedly killing a taxi driver, Murid Abbas, in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on July 16, 2013. In the charge-sheet, the police had claimed that it was unintentional murder as Rasool had tried to stop the taxi driver by shooting the tyre of his vehicle. After inspecting the site, examining the evidence and recording the witness’ statements, investigators came to the conclusion that it was accidental, the police stated. According to the prosecution, the taxi driver was allegedly shot dead by the Rangers personnel after he reportedly did not stop his vehicle when signaled to do so.
