Crime round-up: Nursing student burnt alive in Orangi Town

Three other persons, including a couple, killed in separate acts of violence.

KARACHI: A nursing student of nursing was burnt alive in Orangi Town on Monday.

According to the police, 20-year-old Samina, daughter of Jamil, fell unconscious after being hit on the head and was then burnt alive by unidentified persons.

Surjani police station SHO Bashir Waddo said that Samina’s body was found from Khuda ki Basti. The official said that the deceased was a resident of Orangi Town and was taking a nursing course at Qatar Hospital. Samina was the eldest of eight children. The police suspect that she might have been killed for refusing a marriage proposal. A case has been registered, investigations are underway.

Separately, A couple, Saleemuddin, 45, and his wife, Sultana, 30, were shot dead inside their home in a slum in Ghazi Goth within the limits of Manghopir police station. The bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police officials said that the victims belonged to the Bengali community and used to run a grocery shop at their house.

The officials said that the victim’s children were present at home at the time of the incident, however, they remained safe. The officials suspect that the couple was killed over a personal enmity. Investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, a young man was found dead in the Ibrahim Hyderi area of Korangi. The body was moved to Edhi morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
