Violent official: Case against traffic warden dropped

Judicial magistrate discharges traffic warden accused of beating driver of van and issuing ticket to him at The Mall.

LAHORE: A judicial magistrate discharged a traffic warden accused of beating the driver of a van and issuing a ticket to him at The Mall. The judge dismissed the case on the prosecution’s plea that the case was not maintable.Petitioner Muhammad Hanif said his van was stopped by warden Muhammad Ramazan at the GPO Chowk.He said the traffic warden forced passengers out of the vehicle. He said he requested the official not to issue him a ticket as he had not violated any traffic rule. He said an argument ensued and the warden beat him and issued him a ticket. Later, Old Anarkali police registered case against the traffic warden. It is worth mentioning that after scuffle, the traffic warden went to his home in Nankana Sahib from where he was arrested by the police on Sunday.
