Roadside blast: Landmine explosion injures one in Kurram

The levies officials rushed to the spot after the incident and launched a search operation.

PARACHINAR:


A tribesman was severely injured and his vehicle was destroyed when a landmine exploded in Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram Agency, on Monday.


An official of the political administration said the incident occurred near City checkpost.


He said Ajmal Hussain was on his way to the headquarters from the outskirts of the agency when he drove over a landmine which exploded immediately.


Residents rushed Hussain to Parachinar Headquarters Hospital where his condition was said to be critical.


The levies officials rushed to the spot after the incident and launched a search operation.


No one was arrested till the filing of this report.


A number of people have been killed and injured in Upper Kurram by landmines planted by militants or those planted during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
