Smuggling bid foiled: Heroin seized from Jamrud

JAMRUD: Khasadar personnel foiled a heroin smuggling bid and seized a large cache of the contraband from a vehicle in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency on Saturday. Political administration official Ali Sher said khasadar officials set up a check post in Lala Kandao near Ali Masjid and signaled a van to stop. During checking, they confiscated heroin hidden inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as Jan Akbar, a resident of Jamrud, who confessed he was transporting 29 kilogrammes of the drug to settled areas. A case was registered and further investigation is under way.
