NEW DELHI: It’s best to focus on the health of your facial skin before exposing it to coloured cosmetics, suggests an expert.

Priya Kalra, make-up expert and founder of Grace and Glamour unisex salons, doles out tips to prepare your skin for summer make-up:

Cleanse face: For individuals with oily skin, this is an essential first step. After cleansing, pat dry and apply a light facial moisturiser with SPF to protect your skin from sun rays.

Choose powder, chuck liquid foundation: Use a light mineral foundation and blend it properly before application to make your skin look natural. This will also protect your skin from getting oily.

Eye make-up: Choose soft shades of green, blue, pink or earthy tones. Apply the base colour and then use a a highlighter on the corners of the eye. Or line your eyelids with liquid eyeliner or eye pencil. Use kohl to complete the look.

Blusher: Apply light pink blush on the apples of your cheeks, nose, chin, and hairline. When not overdone, it will give a natural look.

Lip balm with SPF: To complete your look, you can add lip balm with SPF to protect your lips from the summer heat.
