Tools of terrorism: Seminar held on combating IEDs

Seminar focused on the threat and impact of IEDs which have caused devastation at both regional and global levels.

A day-long seminar on counter improvised explosive devices (CIED) was held at Counter IED Explosive and Munitions School (CEMS) in Risalpur. According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations, the seminar focused on the threat and impact of IEDs which have caused devastation at both regional and global levels. Speakers at the seminar emphasised that IEDs are one of the core tools of terrorism as are easily available at low costs. They suggested ways for capacity building of law enforcement agencies, response at national and army level and role of media in combating the peril. Director General Engineers Major General Rafiq Sabir, who was chief guest on the occasion, stressed upon the need of counter IED efforts to generate effective response at a national level.
