Dr Farooq’s parents leave for London

According to officials, they have gone to bring his body back to Pakistan.

KARACHI: Parents of Dr Imran Farooq left for London on Wednesday.

Dr Imran Farooq, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) convener who was assassinated outside his London home, was stabbed to death on September 16 this year.

His father, Farooq Ahmed and mother, Raeesa Begum, will meet Dr Imran’s wife Shumaila Imran.

According to officials, they have gone to bring his body back to Pakistan.

They are also scheduled to meet MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

I am really sick of hearing stupid comments regarding MQM, I mean do you even think before saying, I can seriously draw analogy in your thinking about MQM, with Indian Govt thinking of Pakistan and ISI. There if a cat gets pregnant they first try to frame ISI, here its same, if anybody in Karachi or even related to Karachi is effected, you (people like you) blame MQM. Just the other day I was talking to a person who was giving comments on situation in Karachi, when I asked please name the area you are talking about, he named Lyari Gang war, and said that the gangs there are operated by mqm, as the whole area is MQMs constituency. To test him once again I mentioned Rehman Dakait, his responce was offcourse he is MQMs henchman. WTH I mean if you dont know about the issue then shut your mouth, dont speak.

Liaquat Ali | 13 years ago | Reply @MAD, Since it has been more than 40 days since his heinous murder, in my opinion the parents went to London to make a family decision as to where Dr. Farooq's dead body should be buried; Karachi or London. I think that at this time the decision would be dictated more by the condition of the dead body than by any any political consideration. That said, a London burial would be a small affair. However, a Karachi burial could very well be one of the largest, if not the largest, funeral the city has ever seen. That could be a source of problem because troublemakers would most likely take the opportunity to drag the city further into chaos.

Muhammad | 13 years ago | Reply In the larger interest of peace and keeping in view the prevailing situation in Pakistan in general and in Karachi in particular, it is a totally wrong decision on the part of those who want to bring the dead body of the slain leader back to Pakistan for burial. And I hold government of Pakistan equally responsible for allowing such a move. It appears that Pakistani leaders and politicians are more interesting in protecting and promoting their political interests rather than bringing order and sanity into the daily lives of citizens who are killed by dozens every day on the streets of Karachi due to political violence. Isn't it time that people open their eyes and think. We need to think with our mind at this time and not with our heart. No offense intended for the followers of the deceased.

Inqilabi | 13 years ago | Reply @KNS/Asmat Jamal: Salam to your ignorance.....Dr. Farooq applied for political asylum in UK due to life threats in Pakistan and his case is still pending with UK authorities....the reason Dr.Farooq wife didn't want return to Pakistan is the political/law & order situations of the country and in London she take good care of her children. Dr.Farooq was the founding member and the 'only' Convenor of Rabita Committee (the highest forum in MQM) and after his suspension no body was appointed at this post. Please don't talk about the 'Ummat' conspiracy stories.... @Desi: Dear Oh Dear....people like you forgot easily that Benazir and Nawaz were also remain in hiding for years...but this not mean they don't have following in the masses. And if the British authorities permits to hand over Dr. Farooq's body for Pakistan, you would witness a huge funeral in Karachi
