The two suspects tried to snatch a dumper truck, loaded with sand, at gunpoint in Sohrab Goth. A police mobile on patrol intervened and the suspects allegedly opened fire at the police, who shot and killed the suspects in retaliation. The suspects were later identified as Abdul Rasool and Raza Muhammad Brohi. According to the police, both victims were active members of the Lyari gang war and were associated with the Shiraz Comrade group.
The police also recovered stolen motorcycles and weapons from their possessions. The bodies of the victims were later sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
In another encounter at Rehbar road, Kachi Bazaar within the Kharadar police station limits, Tahir Ali aka Pachas was killed while his accomplice managed to flee from the scene.
The police said he was the resident of Agra Taj colony and five different cases of murders were already registered against him in different police stations. Ali's body was shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for postmortem.
In another incident, a 47-year-old man committed suicide in Baloch Colony area over a personal dispute. Police said the victim died from drinking a toxic substance. The body was sent to JPMC for autopsy.
Separately, the police recovered a buried body in New Karachi Industrial area after a confession from Muhammad Naeem of having murdered him over a personal dispute. The victim Tauqeer and murderer Naeem were both residents of New Karachi. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
