World Twenty20: Sri Lanka beat Netherlands in low scoring match

Sri Lanka chased down the target in just five overs.

CHITTAGONG: Sri Lanka beat Netherlands by nine wickets in the world Twenty20 match played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, in Chittagong.

Sri Lanka chased the target in just five overs. Only Sri Lankan batsmen to fall was off Kusal Perera, he was caught at mid-on by Michael Swart off Ahsan Mailk's delivery.

Earlier, Netherlands stumbled out to the lowest ever total by any team in Twenty20 internationals in their world Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, in Chittagong on Monday, espncricinfo reported.

After being put into bat by Sri Lanka, Netherlands got off to a very shaky start as they lost their first wicket in the very first over, when Stephan Myburgh was caught by Lasith Malinga at third man off Nuwan Kulasekara.

Netherlands managed to score only 39 runs before being bundled out by the Lankan bowlers in just 10.3 overs.

Tom Cooper was the only batsmen to enter into double figures; he scored 16 runs off 18 balls, while four Dutch batsmen could not even get off the mark.

Ajantha Mendis and Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews took three wickets each, for 12 and 16 runs respectively.
