SWABI/ KOHAT: Three examination officials were removed from duty when the controller examinations of the Kohat board raided various halls during matric examinations on Thursday.

Kohat Board Controller Examinations Shafqat Munir said with ongoing exams for grades ninth and tenth, officials of the board were raiding various schools to catch students and teachers involved in cheating.

Munir said in this regard they visited an examination hall at a college of the Kohat Development Authority and suspended the hall superintendent Fazal Azeem due to negligence in responsibilities.

He further said when they visited another examination hall at a government high school in Ghorizai, superintendent Hazir Nawaz and invigilator Salahuddin were also suspended from duty for being negligent.

Meanwhile, officials of the Swabi District Security Branch (DSB) caught five students from an examination hall at Government High School Maneri Bala for cheating during examination.

After directives from Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, police and DSB officials raided examination halls and District Police Officer Sajjad Khan also visited various exam centres in the district to monitor students and invigilators.

In response to the raids, a meeting of the all teachers association was held in the district where teachers condemned the raids of security officials on examination halls.

They said the government should stop such drives in honour of teachers deputed at the examination halls, adding such raids also disturbed the candidates.

They suggested the government to monitor the halls and officials deputed to supervise students through secret observation and then take action rather than conducting public raids.
