Pak-Afghan border coordination: ISAF commander calls on army chief

Two commanders discussed important matters including Pak-Afghan border coordination mechanism.

ISLAMABAD: A top US commander, who is leading international forces stationed in Afghanistan, on Thursday held talks with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in the Garrison city of Rawalpindi on key regional security issues including upcoming Afghan Presidential elections. General Joseph F Dunford, Commander International Assistance Security Force (ISAF), travelled to Pakistan ahead of next month’s presidential elections in Afghanistan. According to ISPR, the two commanders discussed important matters including Pak-Afghan border coordination mechanism. Official sources said focus of their discussions was on ensuring better coordination in order to preempt any attempts by insurgents to disrupt the polling in Afghanistan.
