Earlier, Pakistan were skittled out for 71 runs after choosing to bat first. But they got off to a disastrous start when JP Duminy trapped opener Ahmad Shehzad leg before wicket in only the third over. After that Pakistan could not keep a stable partnership for long.
The only notable contributions of the innings came from Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood, who made 17 and 15 runs respectively.
South African pacers Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Beuran Hendricks and Wayne Parnell took two wickets each.
