An additional district & sessions judge on Monday directed the Shafiqabad SHO to register a case against policemen accused of abducting a man for ransom.

Muhammad Ashfaq said ASI Arshad Chohan and nine other policemen had raided his house on March 11 and arrested his brother Ghaffar Dogar and their employee Waris. “When we asked why they were arresting them, the policemen did not reply.” He said the policemen had taken away Rs0.5 million. Ashfaq said he had filed a habeas corpus petition before the Lahore High Court where the police had produced Waris, who was released on court orders, while Dogar was not produced. In Pakistan too, a government officer, whether police or bureaucrat should be given double the punishment if he commits a crime. And also punished for falsely accusing any person.
