KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) claimed it was being pushed to the wall as its workers are being abducted, tortured and then killed by law enforcement agencies.”In the past few weeks, six activists have been found dead after being abducted,” said the party’s deputy convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui at a press conference on Saturday. He claimed that law enforcement agencies were violating the constitution by abducting their workers while dressed in plainclothes and taking them away in vehicles that don’t have number plates. Siddiqui added that “the tortured bodies of their activists are being found from all over the city.” Siddiqui raised the issue of Abdul Jabbar, their worker from Lines Area, who was taken away from Jinnah hospital on February 8. His tortured body was later found from Nooriabad, between Karachi and Hyderabad, but was labelled “as unknown and unidentified” and was buried at the Edhi graveyard. The MQM leader claimed many of our party activists are still missing and said that it is the government’s responsibly to provide protection to them.
