Development: ‘Govt committed to welfare of Cholistani people’

“The provincial government is taking all possible steps for the welfare of the people of Cholistan… we are prepared for any emergency situation,” Commissioner Captain(r) Asadullah Khan said on Thursday.

He was talking to the media during a visit to the medical camps set up at Derawar Fort by the Cholistan Development Authority (CDA), the district government and the Houbara Foundation.

The commissioner discussed the problems patients and doctors faced at the medical camps. He also visited a veterinary medicine camp for treating cattle.

CDA Managing Director Aftab Ahmad Pirzada said a 257-km pipeline had been installed across Cholistion for provision of drinking water to the people.

“An 87-kilometre pipeline has been laid from 111-DNB to Nawan Kot and an 85-kilometre pipeline from 108-DD to Khardi,” he said.

He said a 47-kilometre pipeline from Khardi to Toofana and 38-kilometre pipeline from Motanwala to Chodi had also been laid.

Pirzada said the provincial government had released Rs10 million for the repair and maintenance of these pipelines.

Livestock Director Muhammad Asghar Ramay told the media that mobile dispensaries were operational in 77-DB Chanan Pir, Derawar Fort, Head Fareed, 229/1L, 52/B, 148/DB Sanghaar, Juggatpir, Chaapo and Mir Goth.

“These dispensaries will provide medical facilities for the cattle… a campaign to vaccinate the animals against diseases is also underway,” he said.

ENT Specialist Muhammad Sarwar said patients were being provided free medicines.
