Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, provincial chief secretary Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri said that the provincial government would collaborate with the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) and other institutions for these homes. “The cost of a single shelter is estimated at Rs50,000 and the government is making all efforts to set up 100,000 such homes within 45 days,” he said.
He praised the BRSP’s interest in the rehabilitation process and said that the government had inspected the model for shelter homes. “The government needs more help from other institutions in the rehabilitation phase because the raging floods have devastated a vast region of Balochistan and washed away thousands of homes, offices, agricultural lands and the communication network,” he said. Responding to a query, he said that they were working for the early distribution of Watan cards.
