Members of new government peace talks committee announced
Peace dialogue initiative has separated Taliban factions willing to negotiate from those unwilling: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD:
The government’s new peace talks committee will consist of Rustam Shah Mohmand, Additional Chief Secretary FATA Arbab Arif, Secretary Ports and Shipping Habibullah Khattak and Additional Secretary to Prime Minister Fawad Hasan Fawad.
Earlier, speaking with the media after meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan commended the government’s peace dialogue was showing success.
He said, the process had separated Taliban factions willing to negotiate from the factions that continue to commit acts of terrorism.
“This division is a great success,” he said, adding that the militant factions that want to sabotage talks could be dealt with militarily.
Appreciating the government’s efforts to negotiate with the TTP, Imran Khan stated that this is the first government that took this initiative.
He added that a national consensus was now forming on this issue.
PM's visit
Imran Khan made these comments speaking with the media after the Prime Minister visited Imran Khan at his residence to discuss the future of the peace talks with the TTP.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Irfan Siddiqui, and the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Asif Kirmani accompanied the Prime Minister.
Imran Khan had previously expressed willingness to meet the Prime Minister to discuss TTP peace talks.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi were also part of the meeting.
The Prime Minister was travelling without his protocol, with Chaudhry Nisar on the driver’s seat.
The Prime Minister has been taking political parties in confidence about the new members of the peace talk committee. It is expected that the new members of the committee will be announced soon.
