KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has submitted an adjournment motion on the Thar tragedy in Sindh Assembly on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media, MQM parliamentary leader Syed Sardar Ahmed termed the Thar drought a total negligence of the provincial government and its machinery in dealing with the drought in the area. He requested the speaker of the provincial assembly to adjourn all upcoming proceedings of assembly session to discuss this issue.

"Around 150 children have lost their lives but no action has been taken against those responsible as they are influentials and are enjoying all the perks and privileges," he added.

Joint opposition parties have also decided to request the speaker to summon the assembly session to discuss the drought and deaths in Tharparkar. The requisition will be submitted tomorrow.
