Dacoits take away Rs18m in cash

A case was registered at the police station against unidentified robbers.

Unidentified armed men looted Rs18 million from a vehicle of a private security company in Kot Jai village on Monday.


According to a Paharpur police official, the money was being taken to a branch of Habib Bank Limited in Kot Jai.

The dacoits opened fire at the vehicle as it reached the bank and managed to injure a guard identified as Alamgir Khan in the process.

The armed attackers then took away bags of cash which were reported to have Rs18 million. Alamgir was taken to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable.

Police rushed to the site after being informed of the incident and blocked surrounding routes, but the culprits had escaped by then.
