Army commanders huddle to deliberate over country's security situation

The routine monthly meeting reviewed prevalent internal and external security situation of the country.

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef chaired a conference of all the key military commanders in Rawalpindi on Friday to review prevalent internal and external security situation of the country.

According to an Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) release, the Army chief chaired the 170th Corps Commanders' Conference was held at General Headquarters today.

ISPR said that the conference was part of routine monthly meetings.

According to the release, the forum dwelt at length on various professional matters. The participants also under took a comprehensive review of prevalent internal and external security situation of the country.

The forum met on a day when the defence minister hinted towards a military operation in the tribal areas as soon as this month.

@shahid: If the present government is not competent or corrupt they should be thrown out in a democratic way. The Army always have its way regardless what the Civilians want and the Army is aware of the gravity of the situation. You claim that there is already a wedge between the two without any proof however. Stop speculative mischief.
