KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday sent three men to jail for 15 years after the charges of a police encounter, attempted murder, impersonation and for carrying illegal weapons were proved against them.

The ATC-IV convicted the men - Ahmed Shah, Syed Naseeruddin and Abid Rehman alias Babu - after hearing arguments from both sides.

The men had disguised themselves as public officials and opened fire at a police team when they faced each other in the limits of Mobina Town police station on December 11, 2011. The police fired back to arrest the accused and seized weapons from them, said the prosecution.
