LAHORE: The district administration on Monday began road construction on a one-kanal plot near the Circular Road, which had been retrieved during an anti-encroachment drive to address traffic congestion. The district administration had launched an anti-encroachment campaign on February 18and announced that they would retrieve state land and prevent re-encroachment. The city government has now established squads, led by town administrators, for this purpose. Under this campaign, Data Gunj Baksh Town Administration demolished shops that had been at the location for the last 17 years. Soon after the demolition, road construction work began. It is now nearly complete. The city district government also plans to take the anti-encroachment drive to the Walled City gates.
