LAHORE: The CNG Association has decided to close CNG stations in Punjab for three consecutive days. The association took this decision in protest against the loadshedding schedule.

Stations in South Punjab have already been closed for two days following the closure of gas supply for that period. More than 350 CNG stations in Multan and other areas of South Punjab will remain closed for three consecutive days.

Gas supply had earlier been suspended for a day, but with the new announcement, CNG stations will now remain closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The situation has forced transporters to switch to petrol resulting in an increase in fares. Citizens have appealed to the government to ensure regular gas supply to the region.

Negotiations between the government and CNG Association ended in a failure on Monday as they could not agree on the number of days per week for the closure of CNG stations.
