The political administration of Khyber Agency has announced compensation worth Rs0.5 million for the families of each khasadar official killed in three blasts in the tehsil on March 1 while guarding polio teams.
A condolence reference for deceased officials and other victims of the bomb blasts was held at the office of the Jamrud assistant political agent (APA) on Sunday. Heirs of the blast victims and a high number of tribal elders attended the reference.
APA Jahangir Azam announced the compensation for victims’ families and said a member each from every family would be given a job in the force, adding they would help the bereaved families in this difficult time.
The tribal elders on the occasion demanded that khasadar officials should be given the same compensation amount as officials of other forces when killed in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, Governor Shaukatullah Khan told journalists after offering funeral prayers for the khasadar officials that the government would never halt the polio drive in Fata but will adopt a new strategy for it.
