A man was killed and his brother injured after they were attacked by armed men near the Golra Railway Station on Saturday morning.
According to police, Gulfaraz and his brother Sarfaraz were on their way to a dairy farm in the Golra area when they were attacked. The assailants, who police believe were waiting in ambush, fired from an AK-47 at the brothers.
Gulfaraz was shot in the chest and in the face and died on the spot, according to a duty officer at the Golra Police Station. Sarfaraz was hit by a bullet in the arm and was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.
The officer said that the victims, who hailed from Abbottabad, had been living near Sir Syed Road in Rawalpindi. There, the brothers sold milk at their shop, for which they managed a dairy farm in Golra, according to the police.
“The two brothers used to collect containers of milk from the farm every morning for their milk shop,” the police officer said. “Initial investigations indicate a family enmity as a possible motive behind the fatal shooting.”
According to the police, the assailants seemed to know about the brothers’ routine. A murder case has been registered at the Golra Police Station, according to the police. But no arrests had been made by the time this report was of filed.
