Shoot-out: Militant arrested for firing on police van

Accused was identified as Saadullah and an AK-47 and a magazine were seized from him, says DSP Faqir Khan.

BANNU: A suspected militant was arrested in Kaki, Bannu on Saturday following a gunfight between police and militants. According to DSP Faqir Khan, a police van was on routine patrol in the area when unidentified militants opened fire at it around 2:30am. Khan added a large contingent of police rushed to the spot and opened retaliatory fire. “After about 30 minutes, the militants managed to escape, however, we caught one of them,” said Khan. He added the accused was identified as Saadullah, and an AK-47 and a magazine were seized from him. Saad was shifted to the police station for interrogation where he told police the attack was initiated by him and four others. No human loss was reported in the shoot-out. Police have registered a case.
