PTI decides to end its three month blockade of NATO supplies

PTI claims that Obama administration had to change its policy due to the pressure of the blockade.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to end its three month long blockade of Afghanistan Transit Trade including Nato supplies on Thursday.

According to a statement issued on party’s official facebook page, the PTI core committee decided on Thursday that the party would end its blockade of freight trucks en route to Afghanistan in light of the verdict given by the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

PTI core committee said that given their commitment to rule of law and respect for the senior judiciary, the party would end its blockade of Afghan bound freight trucks.

The party claimed that drone strikes have stopped currently as Obama administration had to change its policy due to the pressure of the blockade.

The committee further said that it was the PTI that had built up pressures against drones by its Waziristan march, supported by international human rights groups.

PTI core committee also regretted that the incumbent government had failed to show respect for law having failed to implement an earlier verdict of the PHC, asking government block NATO supplies and shoot down a drone if US fails to stop drone strikes in Pakistan.

On Tuesday, the PHC declared the actions of the members and supporters of PTI and its coalition partners in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government with regards to the blockade and checking of freight trucks heading to Afghanistan as illegal, unconstitutional and unlawful.

The PTI had started its blockade on November 24 last year.
