Women recognized: LCWU appointed convener for awards

The awards will be given to women from different walks of life on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2014.

Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) was appointed the convener of Fatima Jinnah Awards 2014 by the Women Development Department, Government of the Punjab on Tuesday.


The awards will be given to women from different walks of life on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2014. The Fatima Jinnah Awards steering committee, under the chairmanship of Lahore College for Women University vice chancellor, was formed by the Women Development Department. The selection committee is headed by Benazir Bhutto Chair Muneeza Hashmi. Awards will be given in the categories of education, health, agriculture, literature, business, entrepreneurship, social work, showbiz, sports and media.

It has been proposed that the award ceremony be held at Governor’s House on March 14.

Lahore College for Women University was established in 1922. The university has more than 12,000 students at intermediate, bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level.

Lahore College for Women University is the largest women-only university in Asia.
