Caught in the act: 18 criminals arrested in raids by law enforcers

At least 59 weapons and liquor carton seized from criminals.

KARACHI: Around two dozen suspects were arrested during raids in various parts of the city by the law enforcement agencies on Wednesday.

Rangers conducted targeted raids in Wazir Brohi Goth, Kauser Town, Zia Morr-Metrovile, Garam Chashma, Patel Para and Musharraf Colony while they also carried out snap-checking at North Nazimabad, Orangi Town and Lyari. According to Rangers spokesperson, 18 criminals including militants and Lyari gang war elements were arrested along with 59 weapons.

A suspected criminal was arrested after he was injured during an encounter with the police in Korangi Industrial Area. Police officials said the criminal named Samar was arrested along with his companion, Abdul Sattar. Two pistols were also seized from their possession.

Three more suspects, Nadeem, Sadiq and Agha Jan, were arrested in two separate raids in Garden. Police officials said that the accused persons were involved in a number of crime cases while weapons were seized from their possession.

Clifton division police claimed apprehending a man called Frances, son of Hakim, during a raid at a bungalow in Block-7, Clifton. The raid was conducted by Boat Basin police on a tip-off. According to Clifton SP Mohammad Nadeem, 153 cartons of beer and eight cartons of wine of different brands were also seized while a case has been registered.
