Shootout: Robber killed, two cops injured
During robbery one of Imran’s children was able to inform his father about the robbery via text message.
RAWALPINDI:
An alleged robber was killed while two constables and two passersby were injured during an attempted robbery in the Sadiqabad area on Monday. According to police, two robbers stormed into Muhammad Imran’s house and held the inmates hostage while taking away Rs100,000. During the robbery, one of Imran’s children was able to inform his father about the robbery via text message. Imran immediately informed the police, who sent a heavy contingent of police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Zeshan Haider to the scene. Upon seeing the police, one robber managed to flee while the second allegedly opened fire on the police party. The police also fired and killed the robber on the spot. The police said two cops and two passersby were injured during the crossfire. The police recovered the looted money from the body of the dead robber, who was identified as Atiqur Rehman, a resident of Attock.
