Awareness: Seminar on intellectual property rights
ISLAMABAD:
An international seminar was held at the Bahria University to create awareness about intellectual property rights. The seminar titled “Fundamentals of Intellectual Property” was organised in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission. HEC R&D adviser Dr Tariq Mehmood said that the HEC has started to provide research training to all universities and established office of research, innovation and commercialisation in many universities. Bahria University Pro-Rector Rear Admiral Saleem Akhtar said the university has established business incubation centres at its Karachi and Islamabad campuses to create space for young and prospective entrepreneurs. US District Judge Morrison C England, US Patent and Trademark Office First Secretary for Intellectual Property Kalpanna Reddy, IPR Committee Chairman Saad Amanullah Khan and US Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Programme Adviser Joe Yang highlighted issues about trademarks and ownership of copyrights.
