Weapons purchase scam: PHC orders NAB to submit bail reports
Both Naveed and Ali have been behind bars for misappropriation in Rs7 billion weapons procurement deal for police.
PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to submit his report regarding the bail application of former police chief Malik Naveed and Raza Ali Khan. The NAB chairman was also ordered to submit a report in a second application also filed by Raza Ali Khan, a distant relative of former chief minister Amir Haider Hoti, against his illegal detention in the case. Umer Farooq Adam, counsel for Ali, informed a bench comprising Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Malik Manzoor that his client was illegally arrested in the case without any substantial proof against him of his alleged direct involvement in the weapons procurement deal, and his detention should be declared null and void and he should be released on bail. The NAB chairman was then ordered to submit a report for both applications. Both Naveed and Ali have been behind bars for misappropriation in a Rs7 billion weapons procurement deal for the police department.
