A man was killed on Friday over suspicion of an illicit relationship with a neighbourhood girl.


Basheer Ahmad, a resident of Chak 7BC near Bahawalpur, told media that his son Ajmal, 24, and he were on their way to a funeral when they stopped to purchase some medicines. He said Khalid, Shabbeer and Kala stopped Ajmal and attacked him with axes and bricks. He said Ajmal died on the spot while the criminals fled.

Ahmad said Shabbeer had previously attacked Ajmal a few days ago. He said Shabbeer had accused Ajmal of having illicit relations with a girl in his neighbourhood.

Police took the body to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for a post mortem examination. They said they were looking for the three men.

The victim’s family blocked Hasilpur Road to demand that the criminals be arrested soon. DPO Sohail Habib Tajik assured the family that justice would be served.

Murdered over land

A man died and two women were injured over a property dispute in Fazilpur. Fareed, Nazeer and Qadeer had shot at Hazoor Bakhsh, Asmat, Amanullah, Sajid, Ashraf Bibi and Farhat Bibi. The women were critically injured and Hazoor Bakhsh died.
