Homemade bomb: Six hurt as grenade explodes near bus

Assailant missed the target and shrapnel in crude bomb hit driver and passengers of coach and pickup van.

PESHAWAR: At last six people were injured Friday night when unidentified men lobbed a homemade grenade in the direction of a Kohat-bound bus as it was travelling on Kohat Road. Police said the actual target was a police mobile. The assailants, however, missed the target and the shrapnel in the crude bomb hit the driver and passengers of a coach and a pickup van. “The vehicles were not hit directly. The grenade landed on the ground and exploded in front of the coach as a result both of its front tyres exploded and the windshield was shattered to pieces,” said an official of the local police station.  The injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH). The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said that around 200 grams of explosives was used in the home-made grenade.
