The MQM committee said that on Tuesday it had given the government 24 hours to recover 45 of their missing members. This deadline expired on Wednesday evening without any progress.
As a result, the party said it will launch countrywide protests. However, it made it clear that their members will abide by the Constitution in staging their protests and observe days of mourning.
The MQM said that its protests were also against the extra judicial killing of their workers.
Sit-ins and mourning days
MQM forewarned that it will arrange sit-ins on all major roads of the city and protests in the national and provincial assemblies and will start from the Senate session scheduled for Thursday.
They have also said that they will observe not one day of mourning but of three to seven days.
