LAHORE:

A consumer court fixed February 17 for preliminary arguments in a case against the proprietor of Siddiqi Boutique for poor stitching of a dress that the wearer said caused embarrassment at a wedding.

The petitioner is seeking Rs225,000 damages. Petitioner Junaid Shehzad said that on June 28, 2013 he purchased the dress for Rs27000 from the respondent located at Rang Mehal.

He said he paid Rs5000 in advance.

He said the respondent delivered the dress on August 10, 2013.

He said the dress had not been correctly sewn. Shehzad said the dress had been ordered for a marriage.

He said the proprietor had failed to provide a reasonable explanation. Shehzad asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him the amount he had paid in advance (Rs5000), Rs100,000 as compensation, Rs100,000 as damages, and Rs20,000 for the counsel fee.

The respondent could not be reached.
