HYDERABAD: The sale of spurious fertilisers is causing huge financial losses to the growers of Sindh. According to representatives of growers’ organisations, if the practice is not stopped, it will not only reduce the production of crops but also affect fertile land of the province. Sindh Abadgar Board (SAB) President Majeed Nizamani, while speaking to the media, said a huge quantity of substandard fertiliser was being sold. If the agriculture department enforced its existing laws efficiently, no one would be able to sell substandard products, which was causing a huge loss to the growers and the economy of the province and even the country, he said. Director Plant Protection Sindh Bashir Ahmed Keerio said the government had an effective system to end such practices.
