IT companies: PSEB to help in getting certification
CMMI has been developed to assess vendor’s ability to complete development projects within a specified timeframe.
ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) plans to initiate the second phase of assisting IT companies in achieving various levels of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and ISO-27001 certification soon to enhance exports. A decision to select IT companies for both certifications will be taken during the board’s meeting, which is expected on Friday. Designed to minimise the high frequency of failures in outsourced software development projects, the CMMI has been developed to assess vendor’s ability to complete development projects within a specified budget and timeframe. Official sources at PSEB on Tuesday said the board launched the programme a few years back and assisted four companies to achieve CMMI level-3 and CMMI level-5 while it also assisted 18 companies to achieve CMMI level-2.
