Marking president’s day: US diplomats hold celebrations

Olsen says event is opportunity to celebrate not only US independence but also relationship between 2 great countries.

KARACHI: US Ambassador Richard Olson and Consul General Michael Dodman hosted National Day celebrations at the Consul General’s residence in Karachi on Tuesday. During the event’s formal programme, Ambassador Olson and Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan spoke to the guests about the past, present, and future of US-Pakistan relations. “The event is an opportunity to celebrate not only US independence, but also the relationship between our two great countries, which has endured for over 60 years,” said Olson. US diplomatic missions around the world hold annual celebrations to commemorate US independence. These events are usually held close the US Independence Day which falls on July 4. The US Mission in Pakistan holds its National Day celebration in February close to the US President’s Day holiday, which falls on February 17 this year.
