Ephedrine case: Court indicts three persons

Court orders that 5 witnesses be produced during next hearing and adjourns case till March 13.

RAWALPINDI: An anti-narcotics court on Monday indicted three persons in the ephedrine smuggling case. The hearing commenced in the court for Control of Narcotic Substance Judge Akhtar Bahadur, where the anti-narcotic force produced three persons identified as Arsalan, Mirza Abdur Rahman and Ayaz of Centex Pharmaceutical Company, Attock. Cases were registered against them in the local police station for smuggling ephedrine. The charge sheet was distributed and also read out before them. They were accused of acquiring and smuggling 500 kilogram of ephedrine. However, they denied the charges. The court ordered that five witnesses be produced during the next hearing and adjourned the case till March 13. The hearing of other suspects including Hanif Abbasi and former federal minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin will be taken up tomorrow.
