PESHAWAR: The Pak-Afghan People’s Forum will be celebrating Afghan Cultural Day to boost mutual relations, especially people to people contact, between the two neighbours.

The announcement was made by the chairman of the forum’s Pakistan chapter, Alamzeb Khan, along with other officials, during a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday.

Khan said even though the day is celebrated on September 23 around the world, their organisation has begun preparing for the event which will comprise various cultural and literary activities.

He said the main objective of observing the day is to revive the lost identity of Pukhtuns on both sides of the border.

“A perception about Pukhtuns has developed wherein they are termed to be against education and branded as terrorists,” said Khan, adding such activities will help negate these false impressions.

He said the forum is also going to organise a consultative seminar in Afghanistan at the end of the month in which analysts from both countries will participate to discuss common problems. Another literary activity has also planned been planned in March, he added.
