“In my personal opinion, the national team should have coaching staff from Pakistan,” Wasim had said.
On January 21, Pakistan cricket authorities began the hunt for a new head coach for the national team, a day after Dav Whatmore’s two-year tenure ended with a series-levelling victory over Sri Lanka.
Former stars Akram, Javed Miandad and Intikhab Alam are members of the Pakistan Cricket Board-appointed committee tasked with finding the coaches. The final decision will come before the Asia Cup in Bangladesh.
During the press conference, Alam said that there were 25 requests for the position of coach and interviews will be held after names of possible candidates are selected, further adding that no foreigner applied for the position.
Miandad stated that head, fielding and bowling coaches will be selected for the national team.

Why don't you coach the team ? Its weird that you rejected the job due to your health concerns but the same case was not applied when India offered you.
It looks as though we are not going to have just local coaches...we'll be playing against local team as well...save Sri Lanka after the Big 3. With two much provincialism here in Pakistan. We can have have team of different provinces and make them our national team(s) on a adhoc basis. This can generate as much intensity and passion as a match between any rival country. This can be a stop gap measure.
Good decision by PCB for not short-listing the foreign coaches if there were. No foreign team ..... no foreign coach. Be Pakistani buy Pakistani.
Well, after the revamp of ICC in favour of 3 badmash, what is the future of our team? I'm not sure of that, so what difference does it make whether we have daisi coach or badaisi coach!
ET has reported it wrong. There were foreign applications but none of them were shortlisted. I have just acquired the press brief and it's been stated that foreign coaches did apply but Pakistan have only shortlisted 6 local coaches.
When no foreign coach is interested to work with Pakistan team, giving reasons to appoint local coach is a waste of time.
