No respite: Violence erupts in Lyari after killing

Two people were shot dead while two bodies were found in different parts of the city.

Tension gripped Lyari after a suspected gangster was killed after having been abducted. Meanwhile, two others were shot dead in separate parts of the city on Saturday.


The body of a notorious criminal, Akhtar alias Akku, was found from Shah Waliullah Road in Baghdadi, Lyari, on the night between Friday and Saturday. According to police officials, the deceased was affiliated with the Uzair Baloch group and was wanted by the police in 22 criminal cases. The officer said that he had apparently been kidnapped by members of a rival gang who had later killed him and dumped his body.

Following the news of his death, several parts of Lyari resounded with gunfire while routine and commercial activities were suspended. A young man was shot dead while another was injured in a firing incident at Jhat Pat Market in Kalakot, Lyari.

Meanwhile, law enforcers once again failed to restrain the gangsters from wreaking havoc in the restive area.

Lyari SP said that the victims’ identities had yet to be ascertained.

Separately, the body of a young man was found from Malir 15, within the limits of Al-Falah police station. The victim was later identified as 28-year-old Shamshad Ali. Police officials said that the deceased had been abducted and killed later. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.

Separately, 35-year-old Razi Muhammad was shot dead in an act of target killing in Orangi Town, within the limits of Mominabad police station. Police officials said that the incident occurred near the victim’s home. He was shot multiple times. Police officials said that the deceased had no affiliation with any political or religious party while the motive behind the incident was unclear.

Meanwhile, the body of a young woman was found near Rahmania Chowk, within Napier police station limits. Police officials said that the deceased was shot once in the head while her body bore torture marks too.

Her body was shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsy. The deceased was later identified as 28-year-old Perveen, wife of Pervez Ahmed Soomro. According to officials, Perveen had been living in hiding after separating from her husband over a family dispute. They suspected her husband’s involvment in the killing.
